“Confessions Of A Future Bride” | Post 30

Hello my friends! If you noticed last week we didn’t post our normal #weddingwednesdays post because Rachel wasn’t feeling well. I decided that we could use the day off to recoup.

But we are back at it again!!!!

“So, I was super slacking with booking our honeymoon.. Everyone was asking “Where are you going on your honeymoon?!” And I would have to say.. Umm.. I have yet to book it 🙂 So then I would hear “You have to go on a honeymoon!!”
And to be honest, Arthur and I were contemplating not going on a honeymoon at first.. The wedding is just so damn expensive! Plus we are trying to buy a house after the wedding 🙂 Buttttt… I would then hear “If you don’t go on a honeymoon now, {either} you’ll regret it {or} you’ll never make it up even though you say you will on your one year {or five year or ten year} anniversary!” Which I do know is true.. And I think we will regret it if we don’t..
With that being said, I knew we had to book the honeymoon.. Like real soon 🙂 So Arthur and I finally made it to the travel agent.. We went to Liberty Travel in Newburgh and we were in and out! The woman we were working with said we were probably the fastest people in and out of there.. Ha ha.. I guess we are just pretty easy going. All we said was that we wanted to go some place beachy.. And that’s about it!

Since we don’t have our passports {And honestly, I just don’t have the time or feel like going through the hassle right now of getting them.. I have a few other things on my mind 🙂 }, the first place the travel agent checked out was Puerto Rico. She showed us a few pictures and we were sold!! We will be visiting the Gran Melia Puerto Rico Golf Resort!! {And lucky for us, my fantastic friend/coworker, Melissa, knows of the resort and said it is awesome there!} We did book one excursion.. Only because Arthur’s eye lit up when she mentioned the zip lining excursion 🙂

We are super excited for 7 nights in paradise!! As you can tell by all of my exclamation points and smiley faces throughout the post :)”

One | A Letter To My Boy

Dear Judah Aaron,

I cannot believe it has been one year with you in our lives! You have totally rocked our worlds for the better! I don’t think anyone could prepare us enough for your arrival even though I tried my hardest to be prepared. In fact, that is the first thing you have taught me in my first job of motherhood – you cannot prepare for everything. I’m still working on not controlling everything but since you came into this world, I think I’ve gotten better. You came into this world with a joy of taking on this world – literally. That was the whole reason for my c-section. You were a face presentation looking up and forward. No I didn’t plan for the c-section but like I said, you came into this world to teach me that I cannot plan for everything. Judah@One-16 Judah@One-15 Judah@One-13

Our first few weeks home were brutal! Hahaha Between the endless crying spouts and figuring out that you had acid reflux, I was really afraid that this new life with you would just be in tears (both you and I). lol But God is so good! Once figuring out what this issue was, you were able to heal and show us that joyous spirit that you have!

Judah@One-14 Judah@One-12 Judah@One-11 Judah@One-10

I absolutely love your smile and your laugh (and your fake laugh)! It’s just contagious and your whole face lights up. The things that made you smile this past year are music and animals. Your love of music started really early when that was the only thing that would calm you at times. And as far as the animals goes, you loved your play mat with all of the animals on it. If I had to guess which animal was your favorite, I’d have to say it was a monkey. You love your animal sounds book and once the monkey says his “ooo–ooo–ahh—ahh” you beam!

Judah@One-2 Judah@One-3 Judah@One-4 Judah@One-5 Judah@One-6

You love pancakes, eggs, rice, broccoli, baked potato but most of all these days you love chicken.

Your favorite tv shows are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Sesame Street. Your favorite character on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is Donald Duck, suprisingly. I wonder what that says about your personality. Haha He’s really silly and so are you!

Judah@One-9 Judah@One-8 Judah@One-7

You’re not really attached to many soothing things but you do take a pacifier and you do love to cuddle with a blanky but you don’t NEED them. Which leads me to your sleep habits this past year – you haven’t been a big sleeper until recent weeks. In fact, these past two weeks have been the longest you’ve slept throughout the night. But for the past year you averaged getting up once (sometimes twice) in the middle of the night. I didn’t think it were possible for you to sleep through the night but like I said, these past two weeks I see a change! IT ONLY TOOK A YEAR! JEEZ! LOL JKJK You are a light sleeper and don’t nap for too long. An hour nap with you is phenomenal.

You don’t really say much other than “haaaa = hi” or “dadadadada.” But you do babble a lot.

You truly are a blessing to our lives. I know it sounds cliche and all but I can’t really remember life without you. We love you so much my little bug!

“Confessions Of A Future Bride” | Post 29

“The time has come!! Now to introduce the most important part of the wedding day 😉 THE PHOTOGRAPHER!!!
So, of course, this was going to be a big part of my wedding planning… How does a wedding photographer pick their own wedding photographer?! After some searching and looking around, Erica helped me to discover Maddy at Mad Hearts Photography. There is a fun background story as to how Erica knows Maddy. When Erica first began her photography journey, Maddy was the one who helped Erica to learn the ropes and discover some new techniques.. And I think that helps to describe Maddy perfectly. She is exactly that type of person, one who would help someone out {including a newbie photographer}.
Arthur and I were able to meet Maddy recently to complete our engagement photos {If you remember, Arthur and I had completed pictures with Erica not too long after our engagement}, but I think it is so important to have an engagement session with your wedding photographer so you can learn how you work with each other and get a see a sample of their great work!!
You can see some great photos from our engagement session from Maddy at Mad Hearts Photography!! Which one is your fav?!”

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

In today’s #weddingwednesdays post, Rachel will be discussing the rules or traditions that she’s either kept or did away with.

Collage 1

“Lets talk about some wedding traditions and if  Arthur and I  chose to keep to the tradition or go with something new!
Rule: Your wedding dress has to be white.
-KEEP! I am keeping this one for sure.. To me this is not one I am into breaking, I am not a fan of different colored wedding dresses. The only place I have seen this is on Say Yes To The Dress…
Rule: You have to wear a long white veil.
-Keep.. Well my veil isn’t really long.. It is semi-long, up to around my elbows I guess
Rule: You can’t see each other until the ceremony.
-Not Keeping! {If you have been following the blog you will see} I am doing a first look for sure. Love, love, love first looks! {And I am hoping Arthur will shed a tear or two 😉 }
Rule: You should make your exit in a shower of rice.
-Not Keeping. I am not sure if we are doing any kind of exit.. Maybe bubbles? I love the way bubbles look in photos! But I haven’t really thought too far into it 🙂
Rule: Bridesmaids are female and groomsmen are male.
-I am keeping this, but I have seen more and more lately where brides and grooms aren’t.. And I am not totally against it.. I think it actually makes out for really cool pictures.
Rule: Bridesmaids should wear matching dresses.
-Not Keeping! I had always planned on having the bridesmaids wear matching dresses, but I am so happy that I chose to let them pick their own dresses.. It makes everyone happier and the bride does not have to deal with any complaints about the dress 🙂
I also like when bridesmaids have different color dresses!
Rule: Your father should walk you down the aisle.
-Keep! How could I not have my dad walk me down the aisle.. I am a Daddy’s girl after all 🙂 However, I have seen brides have their mothers and even their sons walk them down the aisle which is of course special.
Rule: Your guests must be seated on two sides.
-Not sure if I am keeping.. I don’t really care one way or the other 🙂 But of course we see often “Pick a seat, not a side”
Rule: You need one flower girl and one ring bearer.
-Not keeping.. We are not having any flower girls or ring bearers..
Rule: Wedding ceremonies take place in religious institutions.
-Not keeping.. As you all know, I may reception is a Lippincott Manor and the ceremony is too. It is such a beautiful ceremony site in the middle of a field under a willow tree.. Can you get any more beautiful than that?!
Rule: You should register for fine china and kitchenware.
-Not keeping. I am not a fine china kind of gal.. Give me dishes from Target any day 🙂
Rule: Your engagement ring should be a diamond.
-Keep. If you have seen my ring, you can see that it is a diamond. But I have seen more and more lately engagement rings that have other stones .
Rule: You have to do a bouquet and garter toss.
-Keep. We will be doing a bouquet and garter toss. I just think they are so much fun 🙂 Another option that people have been going with is an anniversary dance.”
