“Confessions Of A Future Bride” | Post 18

Happy Hump Day Everyone! I just want to take the opportunity to THANK YOU all for following along! The feedback that we’ve been getting back has been great! Rachel and I appreciate all of your support.

As a photographer, I have to keep up with the latest trends of photos while setting ourselves apart. We are constantly brainstorming and coming up with new ways to stay current and creative. As Heidi Klum would say, “One day your in and the next day your out!” Well I don’t want to be “out.” I just want to grow to the next level.

Rachel and I are always discussing the next step for our business. We would love to eventually grow a team of photographers while also tapping into the world of cinematography. {Again, this is all discussions.} But nonetheless, it’s a goal and as with any goal, you have to try and take a step towards it. With our most recent blog series going on, we are constantly thinking of topics that our readers would want to read. I talked with Rachel about documenting the day that she and her fiancé, Art, go to do her bridal registry (as I have been doing with anything else that involves wedding planning). But this time, I wanted to do something a little different and creative. I decided to film it rather than just taking pictures. I was just curious to see what I could do. And after doing it now, I cannot wait to do more!!! It was soo much fun!

So as we continue to Post 18 of our “Confessions of a Future Bride” and hear Rachel’s experience of getting her bridal registry together, I’d like for you to take a look at 3.5 min video that I put together! Remember to be kind, as it was my first time but I’m kind of happy with it!!!!

Rachel's Bridal Registry-1

“Who doesn’t look forward to completing their registry?! I mean come on… Walking around a store of your choice scanning everything you would love to have in your life!! That’s every girl’s dream, isn’t it?!
My dream definitely came true.. For those of you who know me, know without a doubt what my favorite store is.. TARGET!! Ahhhh!! I love Target 🙂 I would say about 90% of my wardrobe and household items come from Target. So of course Target was my first place to register! And Oh My Goodness, did I love it! Arthur took a while to get into it.. But he began to have fun with it too 🙂 I was the picker and Arthur was the scanner.. Of course Arthur had to sneak a few things on the registry as well {Like the Batman shower curtain..} We spent about two hours going through Target..
We then went to Bed, Bath & Beyond.. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the store.. But I feel like everyone registers at Bed, Bath & Beyond 🙂 When Arthur and I went, we spent about 45 minutes walking throughout the store.. And I have to say, I still was not thrilled with it.. I mean.. It was no Target 🙂
I had a blast completing our registry.. One more thing to check off the list.. It is a little intimidating though coming home, checking out the registry and seeing that our wedding is less than 150 days away!! I am super excited for the festivities to come.. Including my bridal shower.. And I am doing my best not to weasel information out of anyone :)”

Sooo??? What did y’all think? Isn’t Arthur hilarious??!!

Would any of you like to take a peek into Rachel’s registry and send her something special??? She’s registered at:

  • Target – 1.) Click on Find 2.) Enter her first & last name “Rachel Freitas” She should be the only one that pops up – located in Wallkill, NY
  • Bed Bath & Beyond – 1.) Under “Find” enter her first & last name as well as the State “Rachel Freitas” New York. She should be the only one that pops up.
  • Both Registries show her wedding date of 6.24.2016 and getting married to Arthur Bongiorno!

IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD ADD TO HER REGISTRY? IS SHE MISSING SOMETHING? COMMENT BELOW

“When thinking about wedding vendors, there are a few who are top priority for me.. First and foremost is obviously photography 🙂 next on my list is the DJ.. It is hard to pick out a DJ because 1) There are so many DJs and 2) How do you know how good a DJ is if you have never seen them in action?! Lucky for me I’m a wedding photographer and I encounter many different DJs throughout the year. Erica and I have worked with so many great DJs!! But I have to say, there is one in particular who stood out to me!
First let me describe a little bit of what I want.. Dancing, dancing and more dancing.. Like lots of dancing. For those who have seen Erica and I photographing a wedding, we have to dance.. We can’t help it! So at my wedding, I want to dance the entire time. People say I’m crazy when I say this but.. No slow songs!
Except maybe during dinner.. But even then I want to be dancing in my seat! Some examples of slow songs I want to hear are: Aaliyah- One In A Million, K-Ci & JoJo- All My Life, Ne-Yo- Sexy Love.
I love late 90’s/early 2000’s music 🙂 And I am going to bring that right into the dancing music! I’m talking about some Biggie- Mo Money Mo Problems & Juicy, Montell Jordan- This Is How We Do It..

Now I need a DJ who can keep me dancing the whole time! Honestly, I had my DJ picked out before I was even engaged 🙂 I have to go with Right on Cue Productions with DJ Erick Santana! Every time we work together at a wedding he amazes me! I know a good DJ when I am attending a wedding as a photographer and I can’t help but belt out the songs during dinner! Love, love, love Erick Santana! He has a knack for mixing/blending {Clearly I am not a DJ and I definitely do not know the correct terms 🙂  } songs. Erick makes sure everyone is up and dancing.. There is never an empty dance floor when Erick is at a wedding.. How could I go with anyone but Right on Cue Productions?!”

Today’s post is all about the “Save the Dates!”

“So I knew I wanted to send out Save the Dates, but I really was not sure what I wanted…
After receiving our engagement photos {completed by the amazing EricaLee Photography} I knew that I wanted a Save the Date with one of the pictures. From here Pinterest was my best friend 🙂 The majority of the Save the Dates that I liked were pretty similar.. Vertical, Face to Face…

Pinterest Capture

Lucky for me, my wonderful fiancé is pretty skilled with the computer 🙂 Since Arthur was going to be the one designing them, I let him pick which one he liked best and go about designing.. I had to choose the photo though of course 🙂 I looked through the entire set of engagement photos about 25 times {Literally.. I liked so many of them, how could I choose just one to send out to the world?!} Since I couldn’t decide on my own, I needed some reinforcements. So I sat down with my awesome coworkers and asked them their opinion.. We decided on a phenomenal photo {How could it be anything but}

When Arthur finally sent me the finished product.. I loved it more than I would have imagined!”

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!! How was everyone’s holiday??! I hope well. We continue this blog series with a post that I adore!

Rachel’s engagement session.

Arthur&Rachel-1

It was an honor photographing my sister-in-law’s engagement session. Truly a day that I will never forget. In this post, I [Erica] will give some tips or suggestions to brides out there on how to make the most of your engagement session.

Why do an engagement session?? I like to think of the engagement session as a practice run of what to expect before the big day! It’s a day where both you and your significant other, as well as the photographer, get to see how you all work together. If I had a dollar for every time a couple has mentioned that they don’t photograph well, or that my boyfriend is silly and doesn’t know how to take nice picture, etc., I would be rich! My couples get to see how I direct them in order to get those fun loving pictures that I capture. Another reason why you should do an engagement session is that it’s an opportunity to get pictures as a couple.

Arthur&Rachel-21

Location: The perfect location is actually the location where you both would go out on a Saturday afternoon or night. It should be a place representing what you like to do. Don’t worry about picking out the most scenic location because I can make a parking garage look spectacular. I have photographed in couples homes because they wanted to celebrate buying their first home. I’ve photographed at a park playing basketball since my couple loved basketball. I’ve even photographed at a mall. I always say, keep it true to you!

Wardrobe: Wear comfortable clothes that you like and make you feel good. Where clothes with complimentary colors. One should be in a pattern while the other can wear a bright color. Accessorize and don’t forget to paint your nails. And guys should wear pants with pockets.

Engagement sessions are a lot of fun! You can expect to laugh a lot with me if I’m photographing your engagement session. You can expect that at some point I’m going to do a happy dance! You can expect me acting out what I would like for you to do with my assistant Rachel! That’s always fun to see.
